Close the Gaps Standard Guardrail Systems Leave Behind

Door frames, window openings, and wall gaps create fall hazards that a standard scaffold guard rail can’t cover. The Hog Guard fills those openings. Each guard rail post hooks onto the walk boards, and built-in slots hold 2x4s in place to form a top guard rail and intermediate rail across the gap. Made in the United States from high-quality steel, the Hog Guard works with most existing scaffold systems and breaks down as fast as it sets up.

 

Three interchangeable components let you build a guard rail set that fits the work area. The end piece and center piece form the guardrail system across any opening, and the optional stocking bracket adds a shelf for block, mortar, or tools right where the crew is working.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Hog Guard is built to block off openings on scaffolding assemblies: door frames, window allowances, and any large gap that creates a fall risk on masonry and block jobs. It functions as edge protection where standard scaffold guardrails can’t cover.

The uprights position into the opening allowance and hook securely onto the walk boards. No coupling pin or clamp hardware is required, and the unit is designed to work with most existing scaffold systems.

The end and center assemblies have slots at the top, bottom, and middle that accept 2x4s. Once inserted, the 2x4s act as the top guard rail, intermediate rail, and toeboard to keep workers from falling through the opening.

The HGS-A-1 is the end piece (31 lbs, 1/4 in. base plate, 10 gauge vertical). The HGS-A-2 is the center piece (24 lbs, 1/4 in. base plate, 3/16 in. vertical). The HGS-A-3 is the stocking bracket (16 lbs, 1/4 in. base plate, 1/4 in. vertical). Components are sold separately so you can build a custom set tailored to any jobsite.

The stocking bracket adds a side panel shelf to the scaffold support setup, giving the crew convenient access to block or tools without leaving the platform.
